In our Modern dance classes, emphasis is placed on body and spatial awareness and overall fitness. Modern dance skills developed include core strength, spinal flexibility, physical control, use of momentum, ability to rise and fall with ease, and fluidity of movement. Teachers use a variety of inspiring music, encouraging students to explore the expressive range of the art form and discover their personal movement capacities.
In our Dance improvisation classes, dancers will be guided in creating movement spontaneously within a structure defined by the teaching artist. Dancers will explore one or more elements of shape, energy, space and time, inventing movement that will help them discover their unique artistic voice and gain confidence.
Our Ballet curriculum pays close attention to body placement and alignment, allowing students to successfully execute ballet technique while developing strong and flexible bodies that move with poise and confidence. Students will learn ballet vocabulary and work toward gaining clean lines, balance, control and strength. Ballet is a great foundation for learning all other dance techniques.
Our Jazz dance curriculum teaches both classic and Broadway jazz styles to create strong, flexible and balanced dancers. Classes focus on correct alignment and include movement combinations, requiring both precision and fluidity that develop performance skills, self-expression and musicality.
Our Tap classes offer dancers an opportunity to learn rhythm skills, along with strengthening and training the legs, feet and ankles. And, like our Jazz classes, dancers will practice movement combinations requiring both precision and fluidity that develop performance skills, self-expression and musicality.
