Darby Burgess is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts while minoring in History. While at BSC, Darby received the BSC Arts Alliance Award for Academic and Creative Excellence in Theatre Arts as well as a Charles B. Vail Teaching Fellowship for Intermediate Acting. In her college years, she was very active in many organizations on campus while of course being dedicated to the theatre and dance departments. She was one of the student choreographers for BSC’s production of Green Day’s American Idiot and also completed other classroom choreography assignments. She is a native of Florence, AL, where she became involved in both classroom and competitive dance at a young age. Her teaching and choreography credits in her hometown include Florence High School Show Choir, Shoals Community Theatre, and SummerStock at the Ritz. She has been with The Dance Foundation since 2017.
